Year 7 Curriculum

Students are taught in mixed ability teaching groups for Design and Technology.  At Key Stage 3 the main focus of project work is on developing designing skills and creating practical skills with a range of material areas.

Students will spend time in each of the following Design and Technology areas:-

  • Construction materials (wood and metal working)
  • Food technology
  • Textiles technology

Homework will be issued in line with school policy and most tasks are printed into assignment books to enable parents to support students when doing homework.

In Design Technology, students will be taught a range of designing and making skills to enable them to make products of quality.

Extra curriculuar opportunities are available through a lunchtime club which runs each day at the discretion of each member of the department.

There is also the opportunity to do cooking after school 1 day a week through the extended schools programme.
